With every new season, a new QBlogger challenge awaits me. So when I was invited to Carluccio’s in Peterborough for drinks and some nibbles to find out what our next task would be, I had to say yes.
After some lovely canapes from Carluccio’s new starter menu (I had a particular love for the chicken wrapped in parma ham and caramelised onion bruschetta) and a glass of wine, we all opened our challenges.
I had the challenge of finding five fashion staples for autumn from four different shops located in Queensgate and Westgate Arcade including – Style, Topshop, Quiz and Ann Summers (you can imagine my reaction when I saw Ann Summers on the list!)
When it comes to autumnal fashion, I’m all about the accessories and investment pieces that you can wear over and over again. Here’s what tickled my fancy.
Style – Boxed Gloves and Scarves – £10
Style is an independent store located in Westgate Arcade and they have the most beautiful collection of accessories and jewellery. My pick for autumn/winter is this stunning scarf. Not only is the design on trend this season but it’s so, so soft! Style are well known for their large collection of scarves (ranging from £5 – £10) and the ones I had my eye on are from the £10 range.
Next up from Style are the boxed gloves. These would make the perfect Christmas gift because they come beautifully presented in a little box! There’s quite a few styles to choose from and they’re also priced at just £10!
Style has been in Queensgate for 11 years this month and they’re the only stockist of Trollbeads in Peterborough. With the new release of the ‘Hello’ Trollbead collection, Style is offering 30% off the RRP for a limited time! Perfect if you’re looking for Christmas gifts already.
I am totally over my little goth phase during my teenage years (let’s be honest though, black is the most flattering colour sometimes) however I do enjoy a bit of edginess in my wardrobe here and there. These Topshop boots caught my eye instantly due to the leather and suede combination tied in with the buckles overlapping the laces. Lace-up boots are totally on trend this season and paired with a pair of skinnies, check shirt and a leather jacket, you’re going to look bomb!
All the blogging girls were kindly gifted with a gift card to spend in Queensgate and I chose to spend mine on this stunning jacket. I’m not really the kind of person to wear bright colours but this coat really is something else. My wardrobe was lacking a good winter coat and this one fits the bill perfectly.
Puffer jackets are also super on-trend this season but this one didn’t leave me looking like the Michelin man thankfully. It has a lovely, super soft fur collar (which does up around your neck to keep you snug and warm) as well as an enormous hood!
If you’re all about florals and prints, Quiz is definitely the shop for you.
This was probably the most difficult one for me. I instantly had so many questions – “How is this going to go on my blog?” “What can I possibly find in Ann Summers that’s suitable for autumn?!” But when I walked in the store, I fell in love with SO many of their autumn/winter lingerie sets.
The two girls working in the store were so lovely and helpful with my request and directed me to the new collections for this season and what was most popular etc. I’m all for the empowerment of women and I love that something as simple as a nice underwear set can make you feel incredibly good about yourself.
Ann Summers also offer a free bra-fitting service in store and their bras fit like a dream! They go all the way up to an H cup, so there’s none of the ‘pretty bras are only for small boobs’ palaver.
This particular non-padded bra ranges from a 30A to 44H! In Ann Summers you purchase the bra and panties separately, ensuring that they’ll fit perfectly – which you don’t often get in sets. You can opt for other underwear styles in the same Cecile range if you’re not a fan of thongs too (you can choose from a padded or non-padded bra, thongs or Brazilian style pants all in the same collection). And if you want a bit extra, you can also pick up a Cami Suspender and Waspie with the same, stunning embroidered design on.
