I’m not really a high-end makeup kinda girl but when Influenster contacted me asking if I’d like to receive a Marc Jacobs Voxbox, I couldn’t say no!
I received 2 Marc Jacobs Matte Highliner Gel Crayon Eyeliners* in the shades ‘Pink of Me’ and ‘Earthquake’, which are priced at £20 each.
Of course, the price is probably enough to make some of us fall off our chairs, however, I can hand on heart say they’re worth it.
Packaging:
The packaging, as ever, is beautifully sleek. Surprisingly the liners have a bit of weight to them which is a good aspect of quality in my opinion. They’re fairly thin which makes them easier to hold whilst your applying them to your eyes.
Formula:
The formula is what sold it for me. The pigment is so intense for a gel liner, not to mention how creamy it is as well! It didn’t tug at all when applying to both my lid and my waterlines (something that’s incredibly important for those with sensitive eyes). I honestly didn’t feel the need to go over it once I’d applied it, the pigment is that good! I haven’t tried smoking it out on my eyelids but I did on my hand, and it smudged beautifully. There’s one con though (albeit probably not a problem for some people) which is the fact that it’s SO hard to remove – which isn’t ideal after a night out! That being said, the staying power is excellent, I believe I was wearing it for a good 7-8 hours and it still looked just as good when I got home.
They’ve got a matte finish too – which isn’t entirely matte as I feel like they still have a slight satin look about them, but they still look great nonetheless!
Out of the two, Earthquake is definitely my favourite shade. It’s a stunning, natural looking brown which gives a softer look to your eyes. Pink of Me is a baby pink which personally is a little out of my comfort zone but I used it lightly in my waterline which looked more natural than a white liner does!
Have you tried these before? What’s your favourite high-end liner?
