This post is a little bit different for me and if I’m honest, it’s only relevant to those living in Peterborough and surrounding areas (unless this post entices you to visit, of course!)
As you may, or may not know, I am a part of the #QBloggers team – basically I blog for my local shopping centre, Queensgate.
The month of July brings us Independent Retailers Month – which is a campaign that runs throughout the whole of July to celebrate the smaller, but equally as important, businesses and to highlight their role in the community.
I’ve have visited three different shops located in Westgate Arcade (basically a strip of independent retailers) and found out a little bit about what they’re doing to celebrate this month.
Fusion Flair is home to all of the bling you’ll ever need from diamante encrusted ornaments to blinding necklaces.
I was particularly drawn to this store purely due to how glam it is. It boasts a stunning collection of bags – some that you won’t find in your average high street stores – and the biggest collection of JoJo bows that I have seen in a while.
JoJo bows are an increasingly popular hair accessory, particularly within the younger generation. Fusion Flair employee Nurun Ahmed said that the bows and the scarves are some of the more popular items in store.
The currently have an offer on – three scarves or three hair bows for just £10.
“You have too many sparkly items” said no one.. ever. ☺
Elsa Rose is another independent retailer that caught my eye due to their extensive handbag/clutch/tote collection and the fact they stock w7 makeup which is an incredibly good and reasonably priced makeup brand.
Being the age I am and growing with the trends that are ever-changing, of course this holographic clutch (pictured below) that I saw was instantly put on my wish list! As well as holographic/chrome clutches they have a few others that I think a few people will like.
Owner Ana said that there is currently a sale on all bags – 40% off their original prices and they are all reasonably priced anyway!
All of the makeup in store is buy 1 get 1 half price as well, so grab yourself a bargain! ☺
I saved my favourite store until last. This store has a special place in my heart as it was where I brought my first ever piece of costume jewellery from with my own money.
The store has been in Westgate Arcade for around 10 years now and in that time they have introduced some truly beautiful items.
I had a lovely chat with the manager, Amanda Dinatani about some of her favourite items and bestsellers.
One of my personal favourites is the Vendula handbags and purses that they stock. They are the only store in Peterborough and its surrounding areas that sell this brand (they’re also available online).
The Vendula handbags are incredibly popular in the store and it’s clear to see why:
They are absolutely stunning! There’s a vast range of different bags e.g. one has a diner on the front, a caravan style bag and my personal favourite – a bag with an image of a theatre on the front that LIGHTS up. Amazing!
The Vendula brand is significantly more expensive than most of the other bags you’ll find within Westgate (ranging from £15.75 to £99) but this is because the front of each bag and purse is handmade, so, in a way, no two bags are exactly identical.
The products are all used with animal friendly products too, which is a mega-win. You can check out the Vendula brand here.
Style are also a big stockist of the brand Troll Beads. Troll Beads is a Danish brand that has been running for 40 years which offer small beads in all sorts of shapes, colours and designs which you can then add to one of their necklaces or bracelets. They’re also another bestseller of the store!
On top of these two great brands, one of the other thing that I was intrigued about is the fact they sell jewellery and accessories particularly for men, which I thought was slightly unusual for an independent retailer.
There’s currently a 10% discount on all items in store and scarves are just £3.50 – quickly snatch up one of the Vendula bags before I buy them all!
So there you have my short and sweet insight into some of the stores that Westgate Arcade has to offer – don’t forget to check them out if you’re in Peterborough in the upcoming months!
Whilst you’re still here (hopefully) please give me a follow on social media and leave your blog links in the comments and I’ll have a look ♥
Ciao for now my lovelys, hope you have a great week!
