With summer almost over now *sob* I thought I’d share with you some of my favourites for that natural, no makeup, makeup look!
For the face, it’s natural to go for a lighter coverage foundation. One – because it won’t look very noticeable when it melts off and two – it doesn’t make your face feel cakey and horrible! I like to use The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream (£12). Not only is it lightweight and has decent coverage, I find it so fascinating. It’s a white based cream that has small, coloured specks in it and once applied to your skin, it changes to match your tone!
And of course as a sufferer of oily skin, I prefer using powders that will mattify and set my makeup! I like this Maybelline Matte Maker Powder (£4.99) because it’s affordable, it works and I rarely have to top it up, making it a handbag essential this summer.
I love, love, love this Rimmel Sculpting Palette by Kate Moss (£6.99) I know my swatches really don’t do it any justice, but it really is amazing for the price. The highlight and blush is so subtle which gives off that perfect no makeup effect.
I’ve already featured this in a review (was my very first blog post I think! Read it here) so if you’re interested in knowing more, have a read! But I love this Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer Mascara (£18.50) as it’s brown which makes it look super natural. It’s not a thick, clumpy formula either and it doesn’t smudge or streak down your face which is always a win ☺
There’s four nail polishes that I’ve been loving this summer, and you can definitely see why! I colour for all occasions ☺ The first is The Body Shop’s Colour Crush in Caring Caramel (£5), Barry M Quick Dry in Full Throttle (£3.99), Seventeen Colour Carnival in Tomato Red (£1.99) and Claire’s Liquid Metal in Rose Gold (£5.50). They are all pretty long lasting, especially The Body Shop one! The Claire’s accessories polish doesn’t last as well, only about a day or so before it starts chipping. It’s probably best for a night out on the town!
For lips, of course an EOS is gonna sneak in here. Every girl needs some sort of lip balm in their bag, especially during the warmer months as sunburnt lips aren’t the prettiest! Can I just ask, has anyone ever managed to finish an entire tin of Vaseline? I swear I’ve owned hundreds but I always manage to lose them before I finish them!
I love a pinky nude lip in the summer. They go with any look and you can incorporate a pop of colour in a no makeup look without looking too over the top. My two favourites have been the Revlon Super Lustrous in Pink in the Afternoon (£7.99) and the Rimmel London Kate Moss Collection in the shade 03 (£5.49).
So that concludes my summer must haves! I love doing these sorts of posts and they’re my favourite to read as well. What’s one beauty related item you wouldn’t be able to live without?
